Avon alum named 'Athlete of the Year' at D-1 University of Cincinnati
How cool is this?
Avon’s own Joleigh Crye (Class of 2022), who was named the University of Cincinnati’s female athlete of the year this past summer, was recognized at the Bearcats’ Oct. 11 football game against the University of Central Florida.
Now a senior at UC, Crye had a sensational junior season for the Bearcats in 2025. She secured her third-straight NCAA Championship meet appearance after clinching the program's first Big 12 Championship in the 100-yard breaststroke. Competing against Olympic gold medalists and the nation’s top swimming talent, Crye placed 4th in the event, earning First Team All-American honors.
Crye was recognized at UC’s Nippert Field at halftime alongside her 200-yard medley relay teammates, who qualified to compete at the 2025 NCAA Championships for the first time since 1986.
Way to go, Jo!
