Softball standout signs D-I 'Letter of Intent'

Posted Date: 11/13/25 (08:56 PM)

FUTURE EAGLE: This afternoon, senior Jessie C. signed her National Letter of Intent to attend Florida Gulf Coast University next fall!

Jessie plans on studying psychology at FGCU and will play softball for the Eagles, who compete in the NCAA Division I’s Atlantic Sun Conference.

Last season, the Eagles went 29-30 and were the #6 seed in the ASUN Softball Championships, where they fell to eventual tournament finalist Eastern Kentucky University, 1-2.

In Avon, Jessie will conclude her varsity softball career as one of, if not the most accomplished softball player in school history.

She’s competed as a member of our varsity softball team since she was in 7th grade. In that time, she’s batted .465, nabbed 134 hits, scored 115 runs and driven in 82 RBIs.

But for all her batting prowess it’s on the mound, perhaps, where Jessie’s had the most impact for Avon. In four years pitching for the River Hawks - she threw her first game as an eighth grader - Jessie is 45-16, has recorded a school record 923 strikeouts to just 97 walks across 431 innings and posted an ERA of 0.78.

Oh, and did we mention she’s got her full, senior season to add to those totals? Incredible!

Congratulations, Jessie, on this exciting next step - we can’t wait to see you in action in the spring!
