BACK TO BACK: Your Avon River Hawks won their second straight sectional title Friday at SUNY Brockport with their 41-15 romp over Notre Dame Batavia/Byron-Bergen in the Class D final.

Senior Kal D. was a terror on both sides of the ball for the River Hawks. On offense, he tallied 67 yards on 3 receptions, 37 yards on 5 carries and scored two touchdowns. On defense, he recovered a fumble and had an interception, which he returned 41 yards for another score. The performance earned him MVP honors. 

Senior quarterback Evan B. went 9-of-19 for 163 yards and 3 scores and was named Outstanding Offensive Player while sophomore linebacker James C. was named Outstanding Defensive Player.  

Avon now turns its attention to their next opponent, Section VI Champion Newfane.

The Panthers defeated the Wilson Lakemen 28-20 in the Section VI finals for their first ever sectional title and are 10-0 on the season. 

The Hawks and Panthers will face off this Friday, Nov. 21 at All High Stadium, 2885 Main St., Buffalo, for a spot in the state semifinals. Game time is 5 p.m.
