Before Spring Recess, 25 of our sixth grade students headed to Rochester Institute of Technology for the E3 Engineering & Technology Fair.
Held since 1991, the E3 fair is sponsored by engineering societies and private businesses in the Rochester area. Its purpose is to foster interest in engineering and technology in middle school students in the region.
In addition to learning about the engineering process and concepts by working on their projects, participating students also have a chance to interact with professional engineers who attend the fair and learn about career opportunities in the field.
Avon students competed in the traditional science fair portion of the event, then visited various booths from engineering and technology companies from around Rochester.
Competing against students from seven other districts in the area, Avon students took home three awards. Quinn K. took home first place for her project on phonographs, Vincente P. took second for his balloon-powered car while Gregory G. took third with his project, titled “Where’s the WiFi?”
Congratulations to our E3 award winners!
