How did we arrive at our new policy?
To develop our 2025–2026 Cell Phone Policy, we began by carefully reviewing the new state law, which prohibits the unsanctioned use of internet-enabled devices by students on school grounds throughout the instructional day. In addition to complying with these legal requirements, we gathered input from school districts across New York State and actively engaged our community, students, families, and staff to help shape a policy that reflects our shared values and priorities. We feel the result is a student-centered approach that supports a focused learning environment while ensuring families can stay connected with their children in appropriate ways. Please see the FAQs below for more information.
