Schools all across New York State held school budget and Board of Education Votes today. We are please to share the results for the Avon Central School District.
Avon CSD Results-
PROPOSITION 1: BUDGET
Shall the 2024-2025 basic school budget in the amount of $25,543,894 be approved.

PROPOSITION 2: BUSES
RESOLVED, that the Board of Education of the Avon Central School District is hereby authorized to expend an amount not to exceed $273,000 for the purchase of one (1) 65-passenger bus not to exceed $161,000 and one (1) 24 passenger Type A passenger bus not to exceed $112,000. This expenditure will be financed by either a transfer of unappropriated fund balance or a tax in the amount to be expended for such purpose shall be levied upon all taxable property in the District; and that such tax shall be in such amounts and levied in such years as may be determined by the Board of Education. Furthermore, bonds or other obligations of the District in the aggregate principal amount are hereby authorized to be issued to finance such purpose in accordance with the provisions of the Local Finance Law; and such tax shall be levied in installments to pay the principal and interest on such bonds or other obligations as the same shall become due and payable.

PROPOSITION 3: VEHICLE AND EQUIPMENT CAPITAL RESERVE FUND
RESOLVED, that the Board of Education of the Avon Central School District is hereby authorized to appropriate and expend $375,000 from the District’s existing Vehicle and Equipment Capital Reserve Fund, for the purpose of purchasing furniture and equipment for buildings and grounds, instructional, athletic and cafeteria purposes.

PROPOSITION 4: ESTABLISHMENT OF A BUS PURCHASE RESERVE FUND
RESOLVED, that the Board of Education of the Avon Central School District is hereby authorized to establish a capital reserve fund pursuant to Section 3651 of the Education Law to be known as the “Bus Purchase Reserve Fund – 2024.” The purpose of such reserve fund shall be to finance, in whole or in part, the purchase and/or replacement of vehicles for the transportation of District students, including all costs incidental to the acquisition thereof, as permitted by Local
Finance Law. The ultimate amount of such reserve fund shall be Five Million Dollars ($5,000,000) plus accrued earnings. The probable term of such reserve fund shall be ten (10) years, but the reserve fund shall continue in existence for its stated purpose until liquidated in accordance with Education Law. The sources from which funds may be obtained for such reserve fund are: (a) current and future unappropriated fund balance as the Board of Education may designate from the unappropriated fund balance remaining in the general fund at the end of each fiscal year; (b) proceeds from the sale of retired vehicles; (c) New York State transportation aid as directed by the Board of Education; (d) transfers from other reserve funds as authorized by law; and (e) other such amounts that may be authorized by the voters from time to time.

PROPOSITION 5: AVON FREE LIBRARY
RESOLVED, that the Board of Education of the Avon Central School District shall be authorized to levy taxes annually in the amount of one hundred seventy thousand dollars ($170,000), increased from one hundred forty-three thousand eight hundred dollars ($143,800), and pay over such monies to the trustees of the Avon Free Library.
