Dear Avon,
Governor Cuomo addressed mask expectations today via a press conference. Here is a brief summary of related events-
- On Friday, Dr. Zucker wrote to the CDC. This letter was mistaken by many to be additional guidance. The NYS Executive Office affirmed the letter was not updated COVID guidance, as we reported to you yesterday.
- Today, the CDC recommended that NYS not change its masking practices.
- Today, Governor Cuomo held a press conference at which he stated NYS mask guidance would be updated via an executive order. The changes will relate to outdoor masking. Indoor masking was going to be unchanged.
- As of this writing, we do not have any official new guidance.
All of this is actually good news. Avon's approach will remain exactly as was communicated yesterday. Governor Cuomo's comments today affirmed the slight modification we made based on existing guidance to accommodate potential threats to wellness due to heat as we head toward the completion of the year. In summary, nothing has changed from yesterday's communication. If/when we get new guidance, then we will act accordingly.
Thank you.
