Dear Avon Community:

We hope you are enjoying a terrific start to the summer.

New Guidance from NYSDOH was issued for summer programs.  This guidance addressed masks and face coverings most specifically.  This information will impact students, staff, and families who will be on campus during the summer months.

Masks and Face Coverings-

  • Students- For summer programs at ACS, masks are recommended, but not required.  The exception to the guidance involves transportation.  Masks are required for all unvaccinated students while using school transportation.  This includes all students under the age of 12 as well as any students aged 12 or over who are not vaccinated.

  • Adults- For summer programs, adults who have been vaccinated do not need to wear masks.  Unvaccinated individuals are required to wear masks at all times while indoors and on summer program transportation.

Screenings & Attestations-

  • We will be as consistent with our school practices as possible.

  • Students and families are expected to complete a screening form at the beginning of each weekly session.

  • Adults are expected to complete a screening form when visiting campus.

To be clear, the new guidance is clearly labeled to apply to summer programs only.  We expect to receive additional guidance regarding the opening of school in September.  Also, the guidance related to COVID-19 continues to evolve.  We will be working collaboratively with appropriate authorities to help determine if additional adjustments are needed.

We were happy to see that our extended year programs started successfully and we look forward to Braves Camp next week.

Enjoy the weekend.
