The Board of Education updated our policy and protocols related to COVID at last night’s Board of Education meeting. The updates respond to the mandate put in place by the New York State Health Department that requires the use of face coverings while indoors. Here is the section related to face coverings:
“Face Coverings
On Friday August 27th at approximately 5:40 PM, the following information was sent to school districts:
It is because of this mandate that masks will again be required indoors as we begin the school year until the above is modified or rescinded.
Indoors: Regardless of vaccination status, all students and staff must properly wear face coverings indoors.
Outdoors: Face coverings are not required outdoors. Whenever possible, physical distancing is recommended.
It is our intention to move to a local matrix that considers CDC heat map indicators along with locally relevant information to determine the extent to which our protocols such as face coverings are needed when we are able to do so. Unfortunately, we are not able to use these parameters at this time.”
The updated protocols can be found here. We will be hosting an information session on Thursday, September 2nd, @ 6:00 PM.
