A new camera system, recently installed in the high school gymnasium, allows Avon to livestream athletic contests online, making it easier for Braves fans to follow the action with nothing more than a smartphone or laptop.
The Hudl Focus system is a cluster of three cameras that come in a white metal box. Once the box is mounted high up on a gymnasium wall, its cameras automatically track and record games, following the action on the court without the need for someone to make constant adjustments.
Athletic Director Andy Englert said the new camera system makes it easier for members of the Avon community to follow Braves sports and share in the successes of Avon’s student athletes.
“Our athletes are some of the hardest-working kids you’ll find anywhere,” said Englert. “They put in the effort every single day to give themselves and their teammates the best possible shot at winning. The more people who can witness the fruits of that hard work during games, meets or matches, the better.”
In addition to the wall-mounted Hudl Focus system that's now up and running in the high school gymnasium, the district is also pursuing plans to install a camera system in its outdoor sports complex between the elementary and middle schools.
