Avon’s National Honor Society chapter welcomed 32 new inductees last week.

The March 18 induction ceremony was led by Director of Academic Programs Christina Ecklund. Chapter officers Mikaela E., Josephine V., Gabrielle K. and Rose K. gave speeches on the four NHS pillars: Leadership, service, character and scholarship, while society member Maddy R. spoke on the history of Avon’s NHS chapter.

Students are invited to apply for membership in the society if they hold a 90-percent cumulative GPA since ninth grade. Invited students then submit a form for the chapter’s advisory committee to review and, ultimately, vote on.

To be accepted, students must meet specific criteria under the four main pillars of the society.

“The Avon NHS Chapter has a long-standing tradition of service and leadership in Avon High School and the Avon community,” Ecklund told inductees during the ceremony. You have joined an organization that is dedicated to the betterment of your school and community and helping you grow as a leader.”

The Avon students inducted Friday into the district’s NHS chapter were Taylen B., Devanshu C., Lauren C., Ella D., Charlotte D., Cael D., Connor F., Michael F., Kennedy F., Isabella H., Thomas H., Mia H., Christopher K., Orcun K., Katherine K., Avery L., Noah L., Sarina M., Nautica M., Sydney M., Destiny P., Gretta P., Olivia P., Gavin R., Sophia R., Claire S., Eva S., Hudson V., Samuel A., Aiden W., Teagan W. and Jacob W.

Once nominees recited the NHS pledge and were officially recognized as new members, High School Principal Ryan Wagner and Superintendent Ryan Pacatte gave closing remarks.
