Dear Avon community,

We are still seeing COVID cases popping up, as you can see below. Hopefully, as the weather continues to improve and activities move outdoors, we will see those numbers fall again. Also, we’d like to remind you that testing is available every weekday morning here at the school and can be scheduled at the link below. NOTE: Due to the Professional Learning Day on Friday, May 13, the testing site will not be open.

COVID Case Update - Here are the COVID cases that have been reported since April 29:

  • 4 cases in the Primary School (grades 2, 3, 4)

  • 14 cases in the Middle School (grades 5, 6, 7,8,9)

  • 7 cases in the High School (grades 9,10,11,12)

  • 6 cases in staff members

ACS Diagnostic COVID Testing-

  • Testing schedule for next week: Monday and Thursday 8 am-3 pm. Tuesday, and Wednesday, from 8 am-11 am. Closed on Friday, 5/13/22.

  • As a reminder, testing is available as a diagnostic/response test. If you or your child would like a rapid shallow nasal-swab diagnostic COVID test, please fill out the survey at THIS LINK  to choose a time to be tested. You will also receive a consent form and intake form that will need to be completed prior to the test. If you have any questions please contact Michelle Burke at mburke@avoncsd.org.

  • Test results take approximately 15 minutes. You will be notified in the event of a positive only.

  • Please do not 'walk in' for a COVID Test. Tests can be scheduled quickly with a simple email.

  • We have not changed our practice regarding home tests. We do not accept negative home test results, only positives, at this time.

  •  As a reminder, individuals who have tested positive are expected to wear a mask when they return to the school setting, symptom free, on days 6-10 of their infection.

Test Kits-

  • We have test kits available for pick-up. Families are not obligated to use these kits. Interested families are asked to respond to the survey below, and indicate the number of test kits you wish to receive. All reasonable requests will be accommodated.  KN95 masks for kids are also available for pick-up, and can be requested via the survey as well.  .

Influenza-

  • Please note that the Health Offices are experiencing a rise in instances of flu. It is a good time to reinforce good hygiene practices with kids.

Thank you, enjoy the weekend!
