Avon parents and community members,
Avon CSD has partnered with CASA Trinity to host an event on November 30, 2022, at 6:30 PM in the MS Library that raises awareness about substance abuse. The program is titled: "Shawna Has a Secret."
The interactive program addresses potential signs of chemical use and/or addiction. The learning program includes an interactive scenario that will explore and discuss the challenges facing parents as it pertains to children (teens) and access to harmful substances. If interested, participants will be offered the opportunity to sign-up for follow-up topic-based support groups with CASA-Trinity.
The educational evening is a fantastic opportunity for parents to educate themselves about common strategies used to conceal substances, how to spot the warning signs of substance abuse, how to start a conversation about chemical use and the availability of regional support agencies for abuse and addiction.
The program is free. Register today via the linked Google Form or use the QR Code on the linked flyer. "Shawna Has a Secret" presented by CASA-Trinity at Avon CSD.
Please note that session participants must be 18 and over to attend and 21 or older to register. However, activities will be provided for school-aged children if needed. The registration process will allow you to indicate if you are interested in school-age child activities.
Mark your calendars and plan to attend on November 30, 2022, at 6:30 PM in the MS Library. We look forward to seeing you and learning together. Anonymous quote: “It’s gonna get harder before it gets easier. But it will get better, you just gotta make it through the hard stuff first.”
