Wrestlers qualify for state championship in Albany

Posted Date: 2/16/25 (9:38 PM)

Two of our wrestlers placed second at the Section V Division II State Qualifiers Saturday at Bath and will advance to the New York State Wrestling Championships later this month!

Freshman Connor D. went 3-1 in the tournament, advancing to the championship round at 101 lbs before losing via technical fall to Dansville’s Wyatt S.

James C., also a freshman, took 2nd at 131 lbs. He likewise went 3-1 at the tournament, advancing to the championship match before losing via technical fall to Honeoye Falls-Lima’s Chris N.

“Connor wrestled great in this tournament and really just was in the right mindset all weekend.  He was able to defeat some kids that beat him during the season.  I was very proud of him on the way he responded,” said Head Coach Andy Englert. “James was just a hammer over the course of two days. He wrestled some top wrestlers to get back into the finals. This will be his 2nd time advancing to Albany.  James worked so hard in the offseason, throughout this season and it has paid off for him.”

Connor is 31-8 on the season while James is 34-3. They’ll both travel to MVP Arena in Albany for the State Wrestling Championships, which are Feb. 28 and March 1.
