While they’ll be portraying a mother and daughter on stage tonight in our drama’s club’s production of “Mamma Mia!,” in real life, Emma and Clara D. are sisters!
Emma, a senior, portrays Donna Sheridan, a single mom and cash-strapped proprietor of hotel Villa Donna in Greece who just can’t seem to catch a break while Clara, a sophomore, portrays Donna’s daughter, Sophie, a plucky, soon-to-be married 20-year-old who will do most anything to learn the true identity of her father.
Sophie’s efforts racket up a notch when she invites three fatherly front-runners to her wedding in the hopes that one of them is actually dear old dad. This creates more than a few headaches for Sophie's mother, Donna, as she's forced to come face-to-face with three former flings after decades apart.
How’s that for a fun fact!
“Mamma Mia!” opens tonight - Friday, March 27 - at 7 p.m. in our District Auditorium, 191 Clinton St., Avon.
