Construction crews recently began finishing drywall in the new library media center and STEAM room down in our Elementary School!
Over the past several years and as a result of our strategic planning process, members of our community have made clear they value our district’s STEAM (Science-Technology-Engineering-Art-Math) programming and would like to see these offerings
strengthened and prioritized - especially in lower grade levels.
In response to this, we included a reimagining of our Elementary’s School’s existing STEAM room and library media center in Phase II of the capital project district voters approved in December 2022.
Before work began to overhaul these spaces, the STEAM room and library media center were entirely distinct and functioned as two different rooms. The new STEAM room/library media center currently under construction will be connected by an interior pocket door set next to a see-through bookcase and glazed glass wall so as to create a visual connection between the two spaces and allow it to function as one cohesive space as needed.
This will give our staff greater flexibility to pursue collaborative instructional approaches in this space.
Exciting!
