Dear Avon,

The elementary and middle school field days have gone very well today.  Many thanks to Mrs. Miller, Mrs. DeWald, and their planning teams for making smart adjustments to the schedule.

Due to the heat, most staff have been released from non-required activities again this afternoon.  

• This is not a forced emergency closure. Instead, it is an invitation for common sense.  
• For example, activities to take place inside in air conditioned spaces are fine. 
• Outdoor activities are cancelled this afternoon and evening as the "Feels Like" temperature will again break 100 degrees.    
• Due to construction, several office spaces are without air conditioning. Therefore, offices will close around 1:15 today. 

We take the opportunity to remind everyone to stay cool and to drink plenty of water.

Wednesday and Thursday will be normal hours for offices. Friday will start summer hours for offices. They will be open 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
