Thinking critically: 8th graders piece the past together through inference
Stopped by Dan Paganin’s 3rd period social studies class this morning as his eighth graders were learning about how to draw inferences from historical documents.
For example, if a man named Lawrence Exeter wrote three checks in the span of 6 weeks - the first to the Goosie Gander Baby Shoppe, the second to the Hollywood Hospital and the third to a Dr. David McCoy - AND signed the third and final check as ‘Lawrence Exeter Sr.’ instead of just ‘Lawrence Exeter,’ what inference can be drawn about the events that were occurring in the man’s life during this span of time?
