Hawks compete at McQuaid Invitational
Our varsity cross country squads turned in an impressive performance at the prestigious McQuaid Invitational at Genesee Valley Park Saturday morning.
On the girls’ side, Maria G. led the way over the 3-mile course, clocking a strong 19:47 for a 26th-place finish in a field of 320 runners. She was followed by Quinn K. (24:48) and Savannah S. (29:02), both putting in solid efforts against tough competition.
The boys’ squad was paced by Wyatt K., who ran an excellent 16:53 for 38th place. Luigi M. followed closely with a sharp 17:24, while Owen H. crossed in 19:59, Mitchell B. in 21:07, and Hunter P. in 22:03. The small schools race featured a deep field of 384 athletes.
It was a great day for all the River Hawk runners as they continue to make their mark this season!
Our varsity runners weren’t the only ones to impress however as our modified squads also got in on the action.
The modified girls’ ran well, with Lilly R. leading the way by placing 122nd. Lexi R., Leona M., Morgan L. and Ezmae P. helped the team place 20th with more than 40 schools and 270 runners competing.
On the boys’ side Preston M. ran an 11:35, followed by Abe H. at 12:07, Keaton G. with a 12:08, and Reid M. with a time of 13:44.
The Hawks are next in action tonight - Tuesday, Sept. 30 - at Alexander.
