Posted Date: 02/09/26 (01:58 PM)

Our joint Avon-Geneseo-Livonia indoor track and field teams headed to SUNY Brockport this weekend for the Rochester Winter Track League Championships.

Our girls team took fourth place overall in Division 2 with 42 points.

“The girls delivered a strong performance," said Coach Jenna Williams. “Their 4th place finish is a huge jump from last year’s 9th place finish. This improvement is a testament to the growth, depth and hard work of this group all season long.”

Some of the top finishers for the Lakers were:

• Sophia P., who took 4th in the 1,500-meter run (5:32.23) and 3,000-meter run (12:18.32).

• The 4x400-meter relay team of Gianna B., Taila B., Juliette W. and Lily R., which took 2nd in the event with a time of 4:31.72.

• The 4x200-meter relay team of Gianna B., Delaney H., Juliette W. and Lily R. took 4th in the event with a time of 1:58.31.

One of the biggest strengths of this girls team has been its range of talent, with athletes making impacts across sprints, hurdles, middle distance, distance, throws, and jumps,” said Williams. “This group continues to grow in size and improve in performance, and the progress from year to year has been impressive. We’re excited to see how the next few weeks unfold and look forward to carrying this momentum into the rest of the season, and the seasons to come.”

Our boys team took first place overall in Division 2 with 78 points.

“In a meet that came down to the final few events, our athletes fought hard and delivered when it mattered most,” said Williams.

 Top finishers included:

• Wyatt K., who took 2nd in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 4:53.68 and 3rd in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 10:42.28.

• Blayden B., who took 5th in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 8.72 and 3rd in the long jump with a distance of 21 feet, 5.75 inches.

• The 4x200-meter relay team of Blayden B., Eli R., Grant F. and Rishi P. took 4th with a time of 1:37.86

• The 4x400-meter relay team of Grant F., Riley F., Eli R. and Bennett A. took 1st place with a time of 3:41.51.

• The 4x800-meter relay team of Wyatt K., Ian A., Nate P. and Andrew M. took 2nd with a time of 9:00.75.

“A huge highlight of the meet came from our 4x200 relay team, which set a new program record, breaking a mark that had stood for over two decades,” said Williams. “Rider V. continued his dominance by extending his weight throw program record while Blayden B. extended his long jump program record as well.”

Next up for the Lakers is the Section V Class B1 Championships at Nazareth University later this month.
