Your Avon River Hawks came within a hair’s breadth of a fourth straight sectional title Saturday morning at the Webster Aquatic Center. 

The Hawks swam hard, but ultimately ended up in second place with 328 points, 24 behind first place finisher Byron-Bergen/Le Roy, which won the Class C title with 352 points. 

Avon was led by senior Brandon H., who took first place in the 100-yard freestyle (50.24) and second in the 200-yard freestyle (1:50.60).

Other top finishers for the Hawks were: 

• Jax R. took first place in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.98 and fourth in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 51.56. 

• Jessie C. took fourth in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:00.88. 

• The team of Christopher D., Kyle G., Jax R. and Brandon H. took third in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:34.96. 

• The team of Fred D., Jessie C., Jax R. and Brandon H. took fourth in the 400-yard freestyle with a time of 3:27.62.

• The team of Jessie C., Kristen H., Kyle G. and Christopher D. took fourth in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:53.60.
