Our girls 4x800-meter relay team ran an absolutely MONSTROUS race last night at the LCAA Championships, knocking 19 seconds off their previous best time, taking first place, setting a new Avon school record and hitting the Class C at-large qualifying standard for the New York State Track and Field Championships.

The team of Maria G., Sophia P. Emma G. and Kaelyn M. put up a time of 9:40.05 in the event, besting the state qualifying standard by more than 10 seconds. 

While the time doesn’t automatically qualify the team for the state championships at Webster Schroeder High School in June, it puts them in prime position to do so at State Qualifiers early next month at Caledonia-Mumford. 

With its performance at LCAAs, our 4x800-meter relay team continues to have the fastest time in Class C2 by more than 20 seconds and the 2nd fastest time in all of Section V.

• 4x100-meter relay team of Mahki G., Robert B., John D. and Cameron G.: 3rd place (46.55)
• Luigi M.: 3rd place in 1,600-meter run (4:40.72)
• Robert B.: 3rd place in triple jump (38 feet, 3 inches) and 6th place in 110-meter hurdles (19.35 seconds)
• 4x800-meter relay team of Dylan H., Owen H., Luigi M. and Francesco M.: 4th place (8:50.03)
• John D.: 4th place in high jump (5 feel, 7 inches)
• Owen H.: 5th place in 3,000-meter steeplechase (11:21.15)
• 4x400-meter relay team of Luigi M., John D., Dylan H. and Francesco M.: 5th place (3:45.62)
• Francesco M.: 6th place in 800-meter run (2:05.68)
