The Avon-Livonia-Geneseo Lakers got a dominant, 19-4 win over Brockport Friday in the first round of the Section V Class C tournament for its first post-season win since 2-14 and first ever under Head Coach Leanna Presler. 

The Lakers dominated possession throughout the night, winning draws 17-9 and ground balls 16-9 while holding Brockport scoreless in the second half.

Leading the way for the Lakers were Lily R. (9 goals, 1 assist, 8 draw controls and 2 ground balls), Maddie W. (3 goals, 1 assist, 3 draw controls, 1 ground ball and 2 caused turnovers) and Ari S. (2 goals, 3 assists, 4 draw controls, 4 ground balls and 1 caused turnover). 

“Brockport gave us a battle early, but once we settled in I thought our depth and pace really started to take over,” said Presler. “To see this group earn the program’s first sectional win in 12 years is special. They’ve worked for this moment all season.”

Players of the game were Ari S. and Lily R. (12th grade). Chief energy officers were Maddie W. and Emma W. 

Livonia will host Geneva in the sectional semifinals Wednesday night at Saunders Stadium in Livonia. 

Game time is 5:30 p.m.
