Mark your calendars, River Hawks, for the first ever Avon Alumni Classic Basketball Game! 

The brainchild of local realtor and Avon alum Michael Rowland, this generational showdown is set for June 5 at 6:30 p.m. in our High School Gym, 245 Clinton St., Avon. 

“A lot of surrounding towns have alumni games and they’re always a lot of fun, so I wanted to bring something like that here to my alma mater,” said Rowland, a 2024 Avon grad. “We’re got some great alumni lined up from the recent - and not so recent - past, so whoever ends up with the win, it should be a good time all around.” 

Come June 5, it’ll be the white team vs the green team on our Avon High School hardwood.

While there’s no cost for admission, a donation is suggested. 

All proceeds from the game will go to the Ronald McDonald House, a non-profit that assists families with sick children pay for costs associated with traveling to receive treatment such as meals and lodging. 

“Ronald McDonald House is such a valuable resource for families who are often going through some of the toughest times a family can go through,” said Rowland,  “so I’m really hoping that, so in addition to putting on a fun event for the community, that we’re able to cut them a big check at the end of the night.”

Those who’d prefer to write a check or donate cash will be able to do so the night of the game. Checks should be made out to the Avon High School Student Council.
