WATCH NOW: Student projects recognized at 20th annual 'Digies'
A huge congratulations to all our students who took home awards at the 20th annual Digital Media Festival earlier this week at Strong National Museum of Play!
Known informally as The Digies, the Digital Media Festival is an annual conference and festival run by Genesee Valley BOCES’s School Library Service to strengthen the digital media continuum between Pre-K-12 schools, higher education and professional institutions.
Avon students took home 6 awards at the ceremony.


In the “Graphic Arts: Grades 7-9” category, freshman Grace C., pictured above, took second place for her piece, “Our Lady of Sorrows.”

In the “Video: PreK-3” category, students in Mrs. Ashley Knapp’s first grade class - Louanna B., Grace B., Mila C., Charlotte E., Keilanys G., Abraham L., Varric L., Sicilana C., Mason M., Dominic R., Jackson S., Olivia S., Elaina V. and Caiden W. - took third place for their “Animal Habitats Around the World News Report.”



DIGIES 2026: In the “Video: Grades 4-6” category, the production team of Elijah C., A.J. H., Maverick G., Collin F., Evie S., Avery S., Lanie S., Ava G., Norah C., Richard B., Emily B., Parker T., Westley P., Alana V., Ari C., Connor F., Graham P., Riley G., Chloe V., Julia P. and Olivia M. took first place for episode 4 ES-TV, which debuted back in March.

In the “Video: Grades 4-6” category, Cash C. and McKenzie C. took second place for their stop motion animation, “Buffalo Bills vs San Francisco 49ers,” which they created as part of a clay animation unit in Ms. Emma Kostraba’s art class.

In the “Video: Grades 4-6” category, Avery S. and Ellery S. took third place for their stop-motion animation, “Basketball,” which they created as part of a clay animation unit in Ms. Emma Kostraba’s art class.

In the “Video: Grades 10-12” category, members of our digital media class, Evan B., Noah B., Ronan C., Jessie C., Cameron G., Mollie G., Joe H., Aidan L., Gabriel M., Briana M., Jax R., Elijah R., Kellan S., Jacob S. and Jacob T., took second place for their Halloween special, “The Haunting of Coach Englert,” which debuted last October.
