WATCH NOW: Class of 2026 time capsule unboxing

Posted Date: 06/16/26 (04:07 PM)

Mr. Darren Leonard has made a habit in recent years of having his middle school students fill and bury a time capsule at the end of 6th grade to be dug up at the end of their senior year.

Back when our seniors were in 6th grade in 2020, the world was in the grip of the coronavirus pandemic (don’t worry, you’re not the only one who feels old), so they weren’t able to come to school in person to bury their capsule.

Instead, they sealed their items in plastic baggies and dropped them off at school for Mr. Darren Leonard and Mr. Tim Baumer, who have been storing them in a sealed, cardboard box ever since.

Last Friday, before our Senior Parade and after six long years, it was time for our Class of 2026 to open their capsule and enjoy some blasts from the past!

Lots of cool items came out of the box last week, but our favorite might just have come from Lauren H., who saw fit as a 6th grader in 2020 to send her future self a fat wad of cold, hard cash!
