Board of education recognizes students, staff

Posted Date: 06/16/26 (08:11 PM)

There was no shortage of achievements for our Board of Education to celebrate last week at its June 8 meeting.

First up, board members recognized Director of Digital Systems Michelle Burke and Teaching Assistant Dana Marzec for earning tenure. Burke and Marzec have proven their expertise and skill over a period of several years and we hope they’ll continue to serve our students and call Avon Central Schools home for years to come.

Then, the board congratulated Middle School Principal Jennifer Miller on being named Outstanding Educator of the Year by the School Administrators Association of New York State.

After that, it was time to recognize our retirees. While we’re sad to be saying goodbye to 11 of our staff members this year, we’re happy to have shared so many years with such a quality group of educators.

Finally, board members celebrated our varsity softball team and our varsity girls 4x800-meter relay, both of which captured sectional titles earlier this month.
