Tech club wraps bird feeder project

Posted Date: 06/25/26 (03:21 PM)

Earlier this month, members of our high school tech club put their creativity and craftsmanship to work by designing and building bird feeders.

“Club members actually chose the project and found a design for inspiration,” said Club Advisor Mike Dale. “They made a model of the birdfeeder using 3D modeling software and generated part files. Then they produced a prototype and revised their plans to compensate for any issues they had in their original design. They tested that new design, then manufactured the parts and created sub-assemblies.”

For final assembly, club members invited Mrs. Diane Renner’s and Mrs. Barbara McCormick’s students to come lend a hand. After assembly was complete, Renner’s and McCormick’s students were able to bring the finished bird feeders home with them.

From measuring and cutting materials to assembling and finishing each project, students gained hands-on experience with design, engineering, and teamwork. These bird feeders are a great example of how STEM learning can make a positive impact on our community and local wildlife.

We're proud of our students for combining innovation with service and we can't wait to see these feeders in action!
