Equicenter trip provides hands-on experience for life skills students
Students in Mrs. Emily Schroeder’s high school life skills class took a field trip to the EquiCenter in Mendon today.
“The visit was to introduce all students to the fully functioning farm that includes 40 horses, produces thousands of pounds of produce annually and provides therapy opportunities for individuals including veterans and people with disabilities,” said Schroeder. “As part of our work experience program, some of our students will continue to visit the farm each week to help with chores around the grounds and within the different facilities. These jobs may include harvesting crops, weeding, preparing snacks for the animals, brushing the animals, cleaning stalls, sanitizing equipment, and maintaining community rooms.”
Great opportunity for our students - many thanks to the EquiCenter for hosting us!
