WATCH NOW: Varsity volleyball starts ‘Teacher Appreciation’ tradition

“I shared an idea that I’ve seen in the past - Caledonia does an teacher appreciation actual game - and I said to the girls ‘What do we think about this?’” said Chelsie Rapone, head coach of our varsity volleyball team. “They said ‘Let’s do something similar, let’s get t-shirts made, let’s give them to the teachers, write them a letter about why we appreciate them.’”

Rapone said the plan is to continue with the teacher appreciation tradition in future years.

“The senior class was very enthusiastic about wanting to do this this year and recognizing staff who’ve made an impact on their life here at Avon,” she said, “and we’re going to keep doing it every year from now on.”

We decided to tag along with our senior volleyball players earlier this month as they headed to their chosen teachers’ classrooms to tell them they’d been selected and some of the reasons why they’re appreciated.
