Girls soccer falls in C1 final

We want to congratulate our varsity girls soccer squad on their incredible season, which came to an end Friday with a loss to Holley in the Section V Class C1 Championship.

Our girls fought hard and came within a few inches of tying the game up at the end of regulation, but ultimately fell to the Hawks by a score of 1-0.

Over the past few seasons, Head Coach Jordan Mullen’s beat a familiar refrain to his players: Progress over perfection. Investment in the team and in one another. Setting achievable goals, then making good on them.

Those words have gone hand-in-hand with the squad’s steady ascent.

In 2023, our varsity girls soccer team won 2 games. In 2024, they won 5. In 2025, they won 11 and this season, they finished with a record of 13-3-3, on the brink of a sectional title.

Our squad scored 55 goals this season - more than double the 27 they scored in 2025 - and allowed 17 goals through 19 games, one less than the 18 they allowed through 18 games last year.

And so, while Friday night’s C1 final didn’t go the way our girls were hoping, it’s important to keep some perspective and realize just how much they have to be proud of.

We think it’s pretty safe to say the future of Avon girls soccer is pretty darn bright and we can’t wait to see what our squad does next year!
